Upgrade GalCiv to Drengin.net?

I've seen some talk of a $20 upgrade from retail GalCiv to Drengin.net. There's supposed to be a coupon, or something. I didn't get anything looking like a coupon in the box.

Anyone know what the scoop is here?

Under the "getting galciv beta" thread sticky at the top brad has posted the coupon and upgrade information. When you upgrade by clicking his link, you can enter the code.... and voila!

Actually I sucumbed and bought it too.

Bad Stardock Bad!

In the last few months I've bought most of their software, started with object desktop - which I found out about by looking for galciv (which I found out about after the universal moo3 disapointment), then into Galciv, now into drengin.net! CursorXP and a wincustomise subscription crept in there somewhere too. Thing is, I like all the stuff I've got! Don't begrudge spending it either.

Thank you. Took care of that.

Well, I'd heard of them back when I saw GalCiv on OS/2. I got Entrepreneur back when it came out and I recently got OD too. I love the way these guys interact with their customers.

Just to put this kind of spending in perspective, though, the wooden lattice to stop our new dog (Cairn Terrier, next Saturday) from getting under the deck on the back of the house cost $91.

Quite the marketing move on Brad's part. In the short term, he gets us to pay him $20 to beta test preliminary GalCiv patches. Longterm, he gets to keep that $20 as The Political Machine payment (if TPM is as good as I hope, it will definitely make the $70 worth it and then some).

@Starvald - that's funny, they got you to buy OD based on GalCiv, and they helped push me over the edge to buying GalCiv based on OD.

Yeah I know it's a funny world. But OD fit in really nicely with my idea of a new PC. I wanted something different, as much as possible. So ended up with one of those shuttle systems (small, compact and nice) and a TFT screen. Combined with OD, I have a PC that's a big step away from my normal horrible yukky crean midi tower boxes!! LOL

And yes, it was quite the marketing move. But as calculated as that may have been, these guys are treating their customers with respect, and I probably don't need to tell you how rare that is in this line of work! All we gotta hope for now, is that as they grow bigger they don't lose that touch!

Help!!!

I recently purchase the drengin.net upgrade from Gal Civ. I was able to download 1.04. However, can not post my game to metaverse

"I recently purchase the drengin.net upgrade from Gal Civ."

You need to update your keycode in the Metaverse to the drengin.net key instead of the galciv key.

Does the "upgrade to drengin.net" offer expire? Is there anything wrong with waiting until "The Political Machine" comes out to upgrade?

Also remember there was the screenshot of "Elemental", which seems to be some sort of Master of Magic game. I haven't heard any estimated release date.
My main concern about drengin.net is that I only have a 56k modem. I also haven't seen a FAQ about whether you're allowed to move your Drengin.net subscription if you buy a new PC.

You'll be able to use your subscription on your new computer.

I don't think that the upgrade offer itself will expire; after all, we've always allowed people to upgrade from WindowBlinds to Object Desktop.  But I don't know if the price will change.
