Endorsement Problem

We have seen reports of this but have not been able to reproduce it.

DOwnload this, install it, run it and then try to get an endorsement.  Then email me ([email protected]) the .cra file.  All we need is ONE of these and we can find out where it's crashing -- and why.

I was having the same problem. I created my own character and was running against Hillary CLinton. Maybe thats the problem, those CLintons are always up to no good.! I will download the file and see if I can reproduce the problem.

I am having the same problem with mine, except mine was crashing when I try to get an endorsement both before I downloaded 1.01 and after. Do you guys have a .cra file of the bug yet? If not, I will download that program and try to send one.

We need .cra files on this.  We've never reproduced this internally but it's been reported by several people.

BTW, are you guys creating your own candidates when this happens or is it one that came with the game?

Before I downloaded 1.01, I had created my own candidate and encountered the error. However, after I downloaded 1.01, I used one that came with the game and it still crashed. I'll download that program this afternoon and send a .cra file to you guys as soon as possible.

I will make sure when we find out the cause that we put out a technical post on the exact cause since this is definitely a most strange bug.

I have noticed it too, however I have only had that occur after the computer had bought an endorsement before me. I also was using a custom canidate if that makes a difference.

Alright, I have the .cra file.  However, in trying to get it to crash, I have noticed a few things.  For one, as EdMcK515 said above, I have only had it happen when a candidate got an endorsement before me.  When I first tried to get it to crash, I built up political capital as quickly as I could and won an endorsement, but it didn't crash.  It was very early in the game, like Week 4 or 5.  However, with my second attempt, I waited and played the game as I normally would.  My opponent got an endorsement, and around Week 14 I tried to do the same, and the game crashed like it usually does.  Frogboy, do you want me to email you the report or post it in this thread?  Also, I am unsure exactly how to send the report.  I have SmartException up, and it shows the Political Machine error report.  Do I click "Open Log Directory" or "Send Exception Report"?  Thanks again.

That is very useful.  The .cra file would be helpful.

But it sounds like something like this is happening:

The AI and you get the same endorsement at the same time.  That gives us something to go on.

I, too, would like to report the error. I had the problem in the last beta version as a Democrat- the republican would get an endorsement from the nonexistant Chamber of Business, and I wouldn't be able to get an endorsement after that. It worked fine as a republican before, but now I get a CTD when I even click the endorsements button as a Republican.

I can, of course, DL the thingy and send you reports as well, if necessary.

It happened again even when I bought the first endorcement, the problem is that non-existant CTD edorsement that Republicans always buy.

Einstein, that is great data.  We can look up where in the game it crashed and provide a fix.

No problem.  I'm glad I could help.  I think it may be a problem with the "U.S. Chamber of Business" endorsement, like the others have been saying.  Whenever I am able to actually get to the endorsement screen, there is a blank tab in the top left corner, and the political capital counter reads 19 or 20, which is way more than the other ones.  Then, the Republican candidate usually gets the U.S. Chamber of Business endorsement, and then whenever I try to go to the endorsement screen, it crashes.  I am not sure if any of the other endorsements are buggy.
