Drengin.net is about to die. Long live Drengin.net!

Drengin.net is about to die. Long live Drengin.net!

Tomorrow Drengin.net dies. In its place is TotalGaming.net which is essentially Drengin.net + third party games.  Instead of only Stardock games being on the gaming network, third party games get added as well.

And if you already have a Drengin.net subscription, you are automatically upgraded to TotalGaming.net free of charge.

We're launching it with 3 good games: Disciples II: Ultimate Edition (we took all the Disciples II and expansion packs and merged them together to create a new game), Orb, and Celtic Kings.

Then we're going to add a new game each month for the rest of the year as we prepare our 2005 line up of games.

We're in the process of transitioning now to it. The upgrade price from GalCiv to TotalGaming.net is $60 but given how much stuff you get, that's quite a good deal (especially since the GalCiv II betas will start showing up in January).

Maybe coming soon but it not.

Is there anyway that a detailed description could be showed for the games ?

Select a game and see....

Maybe a screen shot or two,
Description of what the game is,
and game requirements.

Just downloaded Disciples only to be told by SDC that there is a file mising and it abandoned the download. Not happy after waiting 2 hours :(

(the missing file message cleared before i had chance to copy it)

Hey - just a thought.... Wouldn't it be nice if we could have additional badges for achievement in other games?

More Metaverses! Maybe the Meta-Metaverse to include the accomplishments in multiple metas! :D

Would it be possible to add pause/resume buttons to SDCentral? With the new massive downloads it's not always possible to keep a steady connection for hour upon end or to keep the computer on for long enough
End of quote

Its my understanding that it automatically resumes upon restarting if you lose connection.

Also, how do you change the directory it installes to? It is installing to my C: drive, and I don't want it there, mostly because its out of room!

I had the same problem with Celtic Kings. The problem was related to my monitor (it's rotateable).  Do you have a Samsung LCD monitor?

I posted over there (http://totalgaming.stardock.com/forums.asp?MID=5&AID=21863) but there doesn't seem to be a lot of traffic over there (and the text display of that forum is ugly).
I'm very glad that new games are available. I've already been spending a week and a half playing another nice fantasy TBS game, and now I'm downloading disciples II... Won't be doing much escpet playing these days... but it would really be cool if Stardock Central showed what kind of game each game is (read the Disciples II description and think of what the game may look like if you never heard about Discipkes): Stardock central should really show the genre of each game: TBS/RTS/simulation and maybe fantasy/sci-fi/politics too.
Great news anyway.
I don't remember when my subscription ends, but I'll very probably renew it with such news (particularly if MoM2 gets done).

Hmmmnn 6 hours = 41% downloaded :notsure:

Could be in for a long wait :p

Only getting 32kb/sec from the connection <yawn>. At this rate it should (hopefully if there are no more crashes) be done in another 7 hours :sniff!:

same here... My laptop doesn't open Stardock Central... i tried to reinstall it but apperently there was a problem with opening one file (install.log or something)and i couldnt uninstal Stardock from my Laptop Now i really dont know what to do now? Can you help?!
End of quote

Please see if the install.log is in the \Program Files\Common Files\Stardock\ folder. If it is please copy it to the \Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\ folder.
Now try the uninstall again.

Now you should be able to install a clean version of SDC.

I too was wondering about the availability of the new games on CD format for totalgaming.net members. Even for a nominal fee it certainly would be worth it.

On the other hand, is it possible to download the games on one computer (ie. my work computer that has a fast internet connection) via SDC, burn that to a CD and then copy that to my home computer?

There are two ways you can go about this.

The offical method is to archive the programs and burn the SDC installer plus archives to a CD. For modable games, this will not catch any mods you've installed, so burn the mod zip/gzip files to CD reinstall them on the new system too.

You could simply burn the raw directories to disc as well. This method will preserve save files and mods, but will not correctly restore registry settings and the like, so it's a bit of a hazard. (I've done it before with GalCiv retail and an already installed copy of GC 1.02, to install the multimedia on a system where I couldn't get it to download, but I ended up having to hack the registry to get the SDC to work right afterwards.) I'd suggest using the offical method whenever possible.

Though all of us in our right mind look forward to TotalGaming.net, I believe that I speak for us all when I say: Drengin.net (and the horribly evil but strangely likeable drengin guy), we salute you! :CONGRAT:

I'm on a 56k modem and while the downloads take a while, thats fine with me.
I've completely reinstalled, stardock central with the latest version and am impressed. Its stable and there have been no crashes or major issues. I'm also impressed with the new look of stardocks gaming website, very nice and clean.

I've had some issues with restoring my archives... they don't install properly or update properly. So I've deleted them and will start a new.. no problem there, a nice fresh start.

However I've noticed my downloads don't resume... :sniff!: this is troubling on a 56k modem. I'm not sure why, if anyone can help me out it would be great. Sorry about posting here, I'm off to find a more appropriate spot to ask for help.

I'm also on a 56k modem and therefore am also downloading in portions. The downloads do not resume automaticly. You need to hit "install" button again after game name and it then will resume download from where it was paused. The partially downloaded file can be found in the Temp folder in SDCentral folder and will have an .sdc extension. I've already resumed successfully 4x. Someday I'll get the whole game. :D

Thanks Moser, unfortunately for me I know that already.
I'm almost certain that when I click install again it starts again... from the beginning. It does the same with updating too. Basically this means the non stardock games are out of reach. Throw in my added problem that my internet disconnects after 5 hours, this also cancels the download.

Anyway thanks Moser :) your reply has me thinking now, I'm going to recheck to make sure anyway.
