IF they were going to do a MOM update, should the races be balanced or no?

This is of course, a hypothetical discussion because I have no idea if Stardock is seeing the interest in the game they were hoping to garner but I had a couple thoughts on race balancing.
I could see some tweaking to be a good idea. Some of the races were way too weak, but I'd hate to see the game perfectly balanced since that tends to push advantages to a less extreme and less interesting level. I think races in a game of this style should be more about style of play than the one that is most likely to win you games.
For instance, just because I learned that halfling slingers can be the deadliest unit in the game and relatively easy to acquire, didn't mean I always wanted to play them. I had just as much fun taking advantage of the Lizard Men's water traversing ability to conduct very early raids or slowly building my way to Paladins and Wizards with High Men.
The Gnolls and Orcs on the other hand were just dreadfully uninteresting and I thought the Beast Men, Barbarians and Nomads could have used a couple more perks to make them a slightly more appealing choice. My vote: Perfect balancing, no. Tweaks/a few more specialty units here and there, yes. Thoughts?
