Just got the game....now to get started...one piece of advice needed though.,

Yep, FedEx delivered, since I couldn't find it on any shelf in Canada (shame on you IG) but it's loaded and now I'm just excited to start. So my question is this. What is the recommended order of operations here. DL Stardock first, then patch, then play?

Definitely load in the patch. Among other things, it tones down some of the unbalanced random events that can wreck your game. It also defuses the "technology trader" abusive strategy detailed elsewhere on the boards.

Yes download the Stardock Central program, then do all updates, then grab a bag of chips and a six pack of soda.
