Wow hehe you worry about cinematics?

Well i just took Moo3 back. Its a broken bugged game at present. I cant remember there been any cinematics in moo3 except the opening one.

Gal-civ has loadsa little videos built in.

Go read some reviews and make up your mind

If you want cinematics - go to the movies. If you want the most awesome 4X game on the market - get GalCiv. If you want neither - get MOO3.

I actually think the cinematics in GalCiv is quite cool and well made

I find the graphics (and cinematics) in GalCiv to be decent enough - the one REALLY glaring piece of art (in my opinion) is the bad stock art shot of the stock exchange floor each time a trade route is established.

Someday I *must* get around to replacing that in my own game gfx files...

I was VERY disappointed with MOO3. I'm downloading GalCiv as I write this. It can't be worse than MOO3. The factor that made up my mind is the developer's commitment to the game. MOO3's developers supposedly pushed back the release date to ensure it'd be bug free. It ain't, AND THE GAME ITSELF JUST ISN'T FUN

I have Both . . and selling MooIII (very broken release and no fix after a month)
Galciv = great support (though it worked fine out of the “box” AND some great strategic games . . the same can’t be said for MooIII (even the developers said it was a real mess when they had to chop allot of features out but it was a o.k. game . . considering)
Also the people here are GREAT! Unlike the MooIII forums.

I agree what everyone has said about gameplay over cinematics. I for one love the cutscenes in GalCiv - maybe it's in contrast to the lack of them in MOO3, but IMO they really add flavor to the game. I'm still enjoying them.

Is that a serious question? Moo3 is not a fun game. Much else could be said about how poor Moo3 is, but I think not being fun is what really nails the coffin shut. GalCiv is fun, better then Civ3, and there are plenty of cool new ideas in the game for it not to seem like a clone of something else.

This isn't a game about graphics. MOO3 has been called a "blue spreadsheet" so it also isn't about graphics.

So I guess my opinion of the graphics in GalCiv is that they as sufficient for what they are. If there weren't any cinematics at all I'd still love this game.

If you NEED pretty graphics to enjoy a game, then avoid both MOO3 and GalCiv. I personally think you'll be missing out, but that's just my opinion.

You can download a ziped trailer of GalCiv here. It's comprised of cutscenes throughout the game (though darker, due to compression) to give you an idea of the movies that are sprinkled throughout the game. However, if you're looking for a game with high budget cutscenes i suggest something from the Final Fantasy series, where the cinematics were are more intergral part of the game gameplay. Thats not intended to say FF games lack depth in place of pretty graphics. I love the stuff that Square pumps out, its jsut that some games require more story telling and more cutscenes to drive their games ..... again - games at I enjoy thuroughly! I dont wanna come off as a FF playa hata' or something *sigh* Anyways, check out the above...im going to go remove my foot from the ol' pie hole. :notsure:

nah the only thing i find gay is the fire sprites in that explosion scene reminds me of some drawing i used to do when i was 12

Ok one last thing before leaving, are some of those pics outdated cause its doesnt looks like its belongs with the cinematics.

I personally don't really think the graphics are very good. I mean they are ok, but they are older in style.

Doesn't bother me. I suppose they could have gone the isometric route of CivIII, but it's the gameplay I am here for. If it looked like Civ1 I'd be happy.

Nah i mean the screenshot i posted here its looks like some kind of 3d animation its doesnt looks like that it belongs to the cinematics shown in the game btw i hate when the background is dull too
