The king street in Toronto was closed recently after a 120 kg marble tile fell sixty storeys. Please see the above mentioned article. Although no one was injured the most important question is should buildings be allowed to have tiles fitted to their exterior. Although this may give buildings a good look, the government should come forward with a law banning fitting of tiles to the exterior of buildings. Although this had fallen during a very strong thunderstorm which is a rarest of rare case and may not happen in future. In the olden days people thought that physics was the most accurate of subjects, even in physics, ideal state cannot be achieved, so, there is always the possibility of slabs falling in future. The government should pass a law banning fitting of tiles to the exterior of new buildings, this has been done in several cities in other parts of the world and advice building owners to remove tiles fitted to buildings, although this may involve additional cost, as the laws of physics state that ideal state cannot be achieved, there is no guarantee that a tile may not fall from
one of the buildings in future.
