Confused with AP

This will probably sound dumb but so be it. I just downloaded Altarian Prophesy and noticed it is a completley seperate directory then Gal/Civ. So do I transfer all the anomalies, events etc, that I got in the Library from the Gal\Civ folders to the AP folders? Is it okay to use them with AP? Another question, when I clicked on Campaigns it only showed the Altarian campaign however, other campaigns are listed in the Campaign folder. Also, is there a way to play the individual scenarios or are they just for the campaigns? And one more question, how do you access custom maps when starting a game?

Also since I thought AP was an add-on, it is in it's own seperate folder and not with Gal/Civ does that mean you do not need Gal/Civ to play AP and it is a stand alone game? And one more dumb questions, can the scores from these games be added to the metaverse?

Even though its in a different folder you still need Galciv to play it, and yes scores from AP can be added to the metaverse.

Yes and no. If you copy over all the data, gfx, etc. files from GalCiv, it could (theoretically) run without a GC install.

AP does not update things like (base install) techs and ships, though, so the game is subject to behave in unpredictable ways if any new abilities are added, or other data-file altering changes occur. Those are updated as part of GalCiv's updates, not AP's, and if you copy them over to the AP folder the updates will not be seen by AP when they do occur.

Thanks guys. Originally I thought I might have to but, I didn't copy from the Gal/Civ folders to the AP ones. I can see in playing AP that the ships, techs etc are used by AP even though they are in Gal/Civ.

One other thing, I see the sub-directory for the custom maps, and printed out the instructions for making them, but did not see a way to use them when starting a new game. How does that work.

To use custom maps and scenerios you need to increase the galaxy size past Gigantic. Next will be Random, then Custom.

The 'Rule' button will only activate when using Custom maps, IIRC, and is used to load scenerios. Most scenerios are simply adjustments to some of the games formulas, although a few do include other changes like bans against certain technologies (or starting with them).
