Hi Guys,
Played GC II and III heavily. Did not play GC IV vanilla, just got Supernova yesterday. Yay.
Here are some 1st impressions/ideas/questions.
1. Looks very nice. Good thing
Very impressed by leader art and anims, UI is also way nicer than GC 3.
2. Was suprised to see 8 cores needed for largest map, while the "recommended" system config asks for less -- recommended requirement should be adjusted (the low figures seemed almost too good to be true, so it's not that I feel hugely misled, but it's a tad confusing nonetheless)
3. Not sure about the announced change regarding hulls -- the new system seems not to be that different, just naming large = battleship or so? Maybe I'm missing something and find there's more to it when I play more tho.
Ship Designer:
4. in a separate run, testing ship designer from main menu > terran style > changing colors/surfaces > launching designer > clicking various parts - got a CTD (IIRC it was a Slyne part I clicked when it crashed)
5. Instead of the various, but sometimes ermm...strange (no offense) color schemes, could we get freely selectable colors again. The late GC2 system (color sliders for everything) was best IMO, the later GC3 one (choose some colors from palette, others via color sliders too) was ok-ish.
6. It seems I cannot rotate as much as in GC3 to work on the lower side of ship designs - can this be changed? Could be an issue with more complex ships.
Leftover from my GC3 experience:
7. When selecting opponents, could we also get a "Random - Custom only" option that ignores the core GC aliens? Because - despite the moaning above
- I like the game and surely will spend considerable time with it. At some point we may have more custom than standard civs, so I'd welcome such a feature.
