I completed the Free Trandal stuff before doing the MuKay trial quest line. And in order to complete the quest line, I got my ship infected. But now that the trail is over, I can't remove Overmind, but its because I already completed the Free Trandal quests of both finding their home planet and freeing their ships in the three systems.
