I'm in the late part of my current game (as Terrans) and recently declared war on my strongest AI opponent (Arcean). I have 3 fleets in position to each attack an enemy starbase at the start of my turn. One fleet is composed of all ships from a race that surrendered to me a while back, and that fleet is able to kill their target Arcean starbase normally. The other two fleets are composed of ships that I constructed. When either of those fleets attacks their target Arcean starbase, the following happens:
A: The starbase explodes, and the battle should be over as there are no other enemy forces left
B: The battle sequence never finishes on its own, the music keeps playing, etc., until I click "Resolve Battle"
C: The battle sequence is done after I clicked "Resolve Battle", and I am returned to the galaxy map when it shows the Quick View style *pew* *pew* of me killing the starbase
D: I can select my fleet, but I have no control over it at all. Unable to move them, or even select a destination. Sometimes I can Eject Ship on individual ships, sometimes not. The original fleet is always uncontrollable.
E: After any one of these "uncontrollable fleet" issues happens, I can't end my turn and continue the game.
This is happening on Turn 193. Up to this point, I have never seen this bug before.
OTHER WEIRD STUFF
- I've tried reloading the game and doing the attacks in a different order, but it doesn't matter.
- Sometimes, immediately after the battle, The Eject Ship button is enabled when I select a single ship in my fleet but the mouse-over tooltip says "Invalid Object".
- I just remembered that when another race surrendered to me a while ago (the super religious race that starts with a 'K'), some of their fleets were buggy on the turn of the surrender. When I cycled through my Idle Fleet list using the button, some of the surrendered fleets were not visible on the screen. At least one of them was hidden under a planet. I don't remember how I managed to get that unstuck.
