Just finished a game on Normal difficulty and encountered some AI issues:
(1). The AI was extremely passive with its fleets. It made no attempt to either intercept my invasion fleets or invade my planets, instead dividing its ships among its planets where my combined fleets could crush them individually. I felt I was fighting a collection of independent planets rather than other civilizations.
Not had this. My fleets were intercepted and crushed.
(2). The AI did not attempt to invade my planets. I left most of my planets undefended in order to focus on offense. I thought this strategy risky and expected to lose a couple planets, however despite being at war for most of the game enemy fleets never came near any of my planets.
The Drengin and a custom race I made (the Feminazis) have been making repeated invasion attempts on two of my worlds. The first attack by the Drengins almost succeeded, but after that I`ve reinforced my planets enough that every attack fails now.
(3). The AI did not make any alliances to counter my expansion. My opponents seemed content to let me gobble them up one by one. If I've conquered half the galaxy, I should be fighting a coalition of most of the other races. It's both logical self-preservation for the AI and keeps the late game interesting.
Don`t know on this, too busy just surviving.
Anyone else notice these?
I`ve not seen your issues and I haven`t done well enough to be a threat to other factions yet to see if they team up on me. I have had two factions go to war with me at the same time so maybe they are teaming up.
As to them not attacking your planets or fleets; don`t know what`s happening there. I`m playing on Normal too. Maybe you`re doing so well that the AI`s just too afraid to take you, wheras in my case I`m not an expert on managing my Empire yet. Perhaps there`s something else like a Mod you have that`s interfering? Maybe tell us more about your style of play? What are your game option settings? I have everything on Random except for Galaxy size which is Extreme.
