Hi,
I'm playing another game of 1.90 - Thalans, Huge Galaxy, nine random opponents, no tech brokering, Genius level - and have been struck by the wild swings in tech values in successive builds.
In my previous game of 1.90, as other people have pointed out, the tech was way too cheap but this time it seems to have been retuned completely the other way. After 150 turns, I have over 9K research per turn and something close to 100 techs (not open at this moment to see exactly). Previously this would have meant that if I wanted to beeline a tech victory than the most expensive tech Beyond Mortality would have taken 5 or 6 moves at most. But this time it tells me 22 which means that at this stage it must be costing about 200k.
I was wondering whether this was deliberate on Stardock's part and what people think of it. If things are going really well then yes eventually you can get over 20K per turn and with the new starbase separation rules this is much easier to achieve - if a bit tedious. But if you wanted to play tall rather than wide this wouldn't be at all easy.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Jon
