pshaw:
Is there a possibility to split up Fund Raising as a stat? I know it would be a game changer, but it's remained virtually unchanged since PM '08. However, if the point distribution for the candidates could be altered to compensate for two categories: Fund Raising (or another phrase to mean actual individual donor voters and families) and then a Lobbying stat (or another phrase to mean what Unions, SuperPACs, PACs, and other organizations like the RNC and DNC give to their candidates).
Essentially, game play wise, I could see Fund Raising being something you do like what is already implemented and the Lobbying Stat would be reoccurring amounts of money given to the candidate every few turns with increases to it depending on your number of endorsements you've obtained over the course of the game.
Just a suggestion I came up with off the top of my head for differentiating between those that are able to convince large segments of populations to donate to them and those that are "networking" friendly candidates that can raise money in that manner. A candidate like Sanders would have 9 to 10 out of 10 as far as Fundraising and 1 in Lobbying (with 0 not being achievable due to the stat scale). This would need to be balanced so that a candidate like sanders wouldn't get the shaft just because they raise money in a different manner.
