Going Traveling

May not be the place to ask but here goes. Have GCIII on my home desktop computer. I am going traveling with a new laptop soon. From a license point of view, is it ok to load GCIII on a second computer. Trying to play by the rules here. Naturally I have a steam account, so that has to go on the laptop. Going to be doing the same thing with Civilization V BNW, so same logic would apply. Is it just a case of only have one copy running at one time which would not be an issue. Don't want to screw this up. Thanks.

Steam will allow you to play any of your games on any computer or platform where Steam is available so long as the game is played exclusively on the platform at the time of play. meaning: you can not play Galciv3 on your laptop and have your friend play on your PC. I think that if the game is loaded, it won't force quit, but you will be forcefully logged out of Steam on the computer you're not playing.

In any case, legally, you can play on your laptop or your PC any time you want, but never at the same time.

Civ V supports Steam Cloud for save game synchro, but Galciv3 does not, so you will need to manually share your save game between computers if you want to play the same game.

Thanks red - Everything you say makes sense. Which leads to the next logical thought. When I get on the airplane with no internet connection, will I be able to launch those games. Sure that question has been asked before, have to do some looking around. Thanks again.

Steam will ask you to authenticate your second machine for game play, so fire up your games before you take off anywhere, just to keep it convenient. Otherwise, I have found it easy to use this way.

Honestly, I do not know... But you can test it: In Steam, go to "Steam", then "Go-offline" and see if you can still lauch your games. For sure, the games need to be up to date (beta opt-in don't count, I think...), but it should work... Well, if it does then your laptop will work in the airplane, if it does not, sorry.
