I have noticed that some people have this issue on YouTube lets plays, but I've rarely had my ships do this themselves. Do you have trade ship icons on? I always hide trade ship icons to improve performance, perhaps this makes your units less likely to attack them too?
I do, ill turn it off and observe from there, it's definitely worth a shot. Ill let you know if I notice a difference. Thanks for the idea.
