On a map with 1500 planets?  OK, on influence, you won't have to flip all of them.  But Conquest?  Unless one goes on a serious Destroy Colony spree, OR one is Malevolent (the aforementioned trait), I think it remains to be seen.

More importantly, I was taking issue with the comment:

"If we might get to have 100-200 planets but more is impossible I'm fine with that."

I was pointing out on that on an Insane Map, having 200 planets is somewhat trivial.

Personally I plan on modding out the LEP and will probably set Patriotic to be +3 goods and services modifier, something that will be nice but not too powerful.

Well, from a role-playing perspective I can't see how you would not need the Malevolent tree to succeed. That simply fit the whole theme with a conquest victory.

Personally I can't really see myself being able to do conquer an insane map, talk about tedious work...

When it comes to influence I actually think you might hit some other victory conditions before the influence one on an insane map. When you have like a few hundred planets you should be able to get a research victory condition sooner than an influence one. I guess the game need some balance approaches on the bigger maps.

I'm waiting to mod until the modding tool comes out, I plan on modding a lot of things, like every tech tree, probably some new tech trees, robotic factories that provide manufacturing and can be built on terraformable tiles and removing the large empire penalty.  So I haven't looked for it yet but at worst you can always search the XMLs until you find it.  

You can use prolific and fast growth to take all the space before they can.


Steps:

Build empty hull (nothing on it) Upgrade it to a colony ship.

Send ship to your target, colonize, rush 1st factory, build 2 more, build shipyard.

Build Empty hull, upgrade to colony ship. put people on it.

Return to home planet and scrap ship putting people back on the starting planet.

Build another Basic ship. upgrade it,

Send to another planet... Repeat over and over and over. A new cycle for every shipyard you have. You can spam space and take it all over before any other race has a chance.


You don't even need high fertility, You can use patriotic and prevent any opponent from attacking you. It's op.

Even post-opt-in patch, the Krynn are still rather dominant, and yes, I checked that they are no longer Patriotic. Even the Drengin, which I had set to Genius instead of Gifted, were second to the Krynn (only by a tiny bit though). Then again, the Drengin were using Kinetics post-nerf, and Kinetics are utterly worthless in this build, so that might have had something to do with them being second instead of first.

Still no match for my Star Destroyers.

I've had more planets on a Immense map on GC2 -over 400 I think? and that was on common not abundant.

This maybe a out of line of the flow of the discussion but, I recently made a post about interesting things with the Drath and the Krynn (, not that there was much of a connection,) and then seeing this. About the Krynn being overpowered just made me last when first seeing it. My thoughts being: "Its all because of the Space dragons/dinosaurs!"

Paper tiger my ass. On gifted they are still the most powerful (by double the margin, instead of the triple/quadruple they used to be) of any race.

Paper tigers do not send endless tides of ships at you.

After several games, the Krynn have evened out. The Iconians, Drengin, and Altarians were the top in my last 3 games. Krynn were below me before Star Destroyers in my latest one, so not even 4th place. Krynn are still good, as they contend for top spot, but they are no longer OP. YOR seem a little UP, though, as they are always dead last. 

the yor in the release buld definitely build up their population. in fact, they may need to get needed as they win a very high percentage of AI vs. AI games.
