Just fired GC3 up for the first time in months. Bear with me, this will be a running thread I'll keep adding to.
Initial quality of life improvements for the custom race designer:
- When going through and changing leader name, race name, etc. One should be able to "tab" from one field to the next instead of mouse clicking.
- When tabbing (or mouse clicking) onto a new field, please have it auto-highlight the text, so that one can just start typing instead of having to highlight and delete the generic fields (for example, when I want to change "leader name" to "joe bob" I should be able to just hit the tab key when finished with the previous field and type "joe bob" instead of mouse clicking, highlighting, pressing the delete key, then typing "joe bob")
- in the "traits and abilities" section of the race designer, the mouse-over of the "handy" trait lists "maintenance -20%" twice, with the same little ship maintenance icon next to both of them. Should it only list it once, or am I missing something?
Other stuff:
- Any word on disabling "tech brokering"?
- Edge of screen mouse scrolling would be great but it doesn't seem to work. Also with dual-monitor the mouse can "leave" the game, it would be nice to be able to disable this. Does the dual-monitor disable my edge-scrolling on the other 3 edges? ----**---- upon further thought maybe this doesn't matter as I find myself just click and dragging anyway, but it would probably still be nice to get mouse scrolling to at least work.

- Music (all sound?) cuts out for a moment then returns every once in a while. I do have other things running and I'm not sure if it's related to some other program/process or not, but I should have plenty of resources to run everything.
- The mouseover on the "buy" button in the shipyard lists the same cost to rush a partially and non-started ship. Example I have a colony ship that's a couple of turns into production - I also have one further down the que that won't be started until the ships above it are finished - the mousover lists them both as "1740bc" to rush - the same as the cost of a virgin constructor.
- starbases from the get-go have huge attack and defense, back in GC2 they basically had none of either. playing as the Krynn on turn 20 and the default starbases have 8/10/5 damage and 16/20/10 defense. Just seems insane to me..
- in the graph in the governance screen a mouseover of the line should show which race's line it is - so that if more than one race has the same line color the player can see which race they are looking at.
- On diplomacy screen when someone asks for "technology XYZ" it would be really great to have a mouseover on the technology so that it would remind you what that technology actually is/does since it's hard to remember the difference between super thrusters, heroic thrusters, and space engines ...
Also, what's up with "leader name"

Possibly the race named "Short Name"? -they ride the short bus or what?

Upon further inspection of the short bus race, when I went to start a new game as Krynn they were listed as opponents (although I'm pretty sure I never saved a blank new race), when I went back into the race-creator screen, then exited without making a new race they no longer show up as a selectable opponent - which is good because they were sort of kicking my ass...
General comments:
- Stupid star names - I know there has been some concern about this, but I haven't seen any star names that I don't like. I actually took quite a few minutes to look around the map and read them all - and they're all terrific!
- This game is crazy-fun - congrats to the team, I'm really happy with the (almost) finished product.
- I really like the tile mouseover that displays the influence competition on that specific tile of space - great touch!
Excited to get some time in, been waiting for the right combination of free time without a pending beta-release that would break my prev saves after a couple of days of playing. Been religiously watching the dev streams and Brad's interviews and it's really shaping up to be a nice looking game.
