REQ: smarter shipyards

Hi there.

Can you please change shipyards to a smarter automatic function? Right now it is a little annoying to have to switch it on and off manually. It would be nice if the shipyards would be smart enough to go into standby automatically if the building queue is empty, without interrupting the game flow in any way.

Edit: Since there are people who value the function as it currently is, I change my request to implement the OPTION to set shipyards to auto-standby

Also, some additional cleverness like the ability to auto-build a certain shiptype/design if the building queue is empty would be great!

The question is why? If it automatically goes into standby, you will not be producing ships, constructors, freighters or transports. You may not realize you are not building for a looong time. This lets you know so you can start something else once your queue runs out. I am always building something. Only very late in the game do I start placing shipyards on idle.

I would at least like the option to tell a starbase to continue building the same type of ship automatically, like you could do for planets in GC2.

Also need filters. I hate all the template ships cluttering my screen. I know you could turn them off in galciv2 need that option back.

RobTzu, they spoke about setting up filters and the like for templates in the october 31st dev talk, check it out on youtube if you like. I think thats on the list already for sure.

I agree. there are times when I want a certain amount other times, early game, I just want as many as I can make, ie early expansion, but only until I run into the opposing races, then I start to know how many ships I need to finish my expansion.

Or I want 3 cheap colony ships for nearby planets then regular ones until I say stop

Please no or make this an option where it is off by default this option needs to be global to have the shipyards on standby when they stop building. I repeat no to this please. This would make things take longer because I would have to look at every shipyard on every everyturn. I play an industrial power.
