Maybe, but I'm not so sure. If each weapon will be one attack, like in GalCiv 2, then that information is important for the game. However, I don't think, that the player needs to be told, that adding one Laser to his ship, will add one beam weapon to his ship. That should be obvious.
If there is more to it, then maybe it is necessary to keep after all. However, I still think, that it is confusing to new players. Even I had to look twice to find out, how much damage that module does.
I think it comes down to a separation here. Gaunathor has the right of it, the info is confusing. Knowing the weapons on the ship/starbase may be important, but it would be nicer if they grouped those options together and gave final attacks of the objects in a separate category. Like
Weapons:
Beam +1
Kinetic +1
Missile +1
Attack (totals):
Beam +2
Kinetic +2
Missile +2
This is one option, so one can see the info in separate lines. But maybe something along the line
Starbase Defense System
Construction time
+1
Beam
+1
+2
Kinetic
+1
+2
Missile
+1
+2
Where
represents the number of weapons and
represents the attack. It is all on one line. Might be easier to read and take up less screen space. (Using forum icons to help represent in game solution)
