GalCiv II TA - CTD when starting "achilles heel"

Is there a fix for the steam version?

Hi,

My game crashes when I try to start the "Achilles heel" mission, I know that this is a known bug but there seems to be no way to patch the steam version to get around the problem. Is there a fix or is my game just broken?
