Is there a global official thread in which we can drop and add our feed backs without having to open a different thread for each and every tester?
I drop here my own feedbacks, sorry, with also my garbage improvised English... oops...
It is not intended for discussion (hence opening a thread is a bit too much...), as what I do not like is only my opinion, and I understand than 99.99% of other players think differently. I just put quickly my 1st raw feelings, and especially what I had issues with.
*************
pro:
- nice contrasts. i can easily read the texts- As I am 56 and with not so good eyes, it is VERY important to me to have clear fonts and simple reading.
- I am ok with hexes. If I recall well, it was a long discussion about hexes when Civilization V came...
- going from GC2 to GC3 does not look (yet) a daunting task for old people who can not learn as fast as before...
con:
- do not like at all the many floating windows activated when mouse is on an item. Excess of tips.
- the delay for triggering the context tip is too long. I have to stop my mouse for allowing a display, I can not go on the fly.
- impossible to play the game on my computer with native resolution: fuzzy text totally impossible to read. I had to go down to 1280*768 from 1920*1080 (or 1920*1200, I could not read what the game selected...). I had to disable Crossfire. Waiting then for a next patch or another approved driver. ok.
- can not find where to remove the background with galaxies and simplify the display. In GC2, we had an option for that, here, I dont find it...
- planets just look like transparent black holes (Wisp, Imoth, ...). Even if habitable, at 1st glance I can not see it (missing a colored glow?)
- I can not at a glance see if the planet is habitable or not. I need the (boring) context tips... I do not want to usemy mouse, I want simple and clean/clear view without having to search for the right pixel triggering an info.
- when zooming out on my influence area, the name of my main planet stays large and clear, but the name of the starport stays too large, too close (ex.: Altarian starport 1)
- I do not like the blue color for the lines and text. As I test with Altarian, I understand that it is their color, but I guess in the future it will be possible to change colors outlining menus and for the general interface.
- undiscovered stars just do not look like stars but just white circles. could be a bit more "romantic"?...
- when zooming at max on the global map, hexes and items (planets, fields,...) just do a global mess. In Civilization, I liked the way where, when you reach a certain level of zooming, things came cleaner. remove automatically the display of hexes. If an item is on more than 1 hex (ex fields)m do not put 3 symbols doing a jam, just put 1. Simplify please.
- simplification is the most difficult part of any process. There are a LOT of things to simplify in display, by removing the fancy for the pretty and natural feeling.
- when I press the ESC key, i would love to quit the current view for going back to my previous view. Ex.: when, from the global map, I go to Shipyard, if I press ESC, I want to revert to the global map. Or, at least, trigger the "cancel" button if activated at the bottom of the screen.
Research tree
- No zoom. I can not feel where I go, what to do, how...
- the "now Researching" window top right is boring as it is it hiding part of the tree. Less bla bla in it, and facts/numbers put by instance under Diplomacy left tab would be better.
- context widows in research tree, windows goes on top of other researches and move as you move your pointer. Difficult to read as it hides more the global tree and does not help the understanding.
I would rather prefer a fixed display on a side, keeping the research tree area as large as possible and without anything coming on top of it.
- too much reading in Tec tree. i do not feel right away what is the point and pro/con of a tec
- round icons too larges for the main researches? It gives me the feeling it is a game designed for smartphones.
Planet map
- color coding:
- If I understand that research comes in blue, then I am lost with the intuitive color coding as gold color is used for different categories. ex.: on the Civilization Capital improvement, the context windows shows manufacturing as yellow (and not brown/clay), and it is the same yellow/gold color for sensors, Food, Culture)...
- Research Improvement icon (at the bottom of some planet cells) comes with same color as manufacturing: brown/clay
- in general, color coding/standardization is not widespread and consistent.
Ideology
- same as before. boring and too many context windows, moving as soon as you move a bit your mouse.
I do not like it at all.
rather than the traffic jam of windows that gives punctual info and not global info, I would rather prefer synthesised pyramids focusing on a single target/ressource. Ex.: various tabs, with how the pyramids would look like (pro/con) if you focus on entertainment, influence, etc...
- ooops... more pyramids on the left and right? i just saw it because a bit of a square of the next pyramids was included into the previous one... I do not like this smartphone/tablet thing where you have to glide your finger on the tactile surface for getting the next images... ok. dont forget that I am an old man though...
Ship yard
- what is the point of the background squares? I thought is was a nice tool for getting proportions among ships and feel the final size versus other ships. But no. When you zoom in and out, only the ship is scaled, not the background scaling... ok... perhaps I should also stop to use ArchiCad and AutoCad, but when it comes to design, proportions and scaling are important...
the background scale should allow a designer to know what is the actual size of a component/design.
