Allegiance Troubles

I understand the max allegiance of a planet is determined by its distance from the capital. Are there any methods of compensating for this? One thought is relocating the capital to a planet near the center of the map. If this is done, what planet types would be a good choice? thx

Advent have a few reseaches that do increase allegiance.

And a starbase upgrade that increases allegiance further... although it takes a while to pay itself off. (20 minutes pre DLC on a Terran)

Relocating your capital in the middle of your empire can be useful.

Capitalplanet gets extra tax income and has the highest possible allegiance.... so it is usually a good idea to have a planet with high population.

I think Terran, Desert and possibly Oceanic planets give the highest capital planet bonus, but it really isn't a huge deal. If you have a decent sized Empire getting the best location for your capital should be far more important than a few extra credits and crystal (as long as your capital is on something better than a dwarf planet).

Also keep in mind you cannot move your capital when you have capital victory enabled. In that case culture, the culture pact, and if you're Advent research and starbase upgrades are all you can do to increase allegiance.

Terran is usually the best choice because they are well rounded and can have the highest population, meaning you'll get the most out of the 100%+ allegiance for tax income, especially if you go full social spec, in which case the tax income can get pretty crazy when the population hits max.

If you're planning to use it more actively as part of your economy/war machine though it'd probably be best to go with a desert planet since they are easier to defend and get more logistics slots.

I would hesitate to recommend an Oceanic as they are harder to defend than the other two although if you're playing against AI this may not matter anyway. Like Goa said if there doesn't seem to be one of those nearest your biggest resource producers, just go with something fairly central, since the Allegiance bonus to all your other planets is going to matter more in the end than the tax income from the one planet.
