Though Google says it is safe in Chrome as it is run in another process... which while it would protect the browser does nothing to protect the video driver which is the real issue as I see it. It exists in kernel mode, has direct access to the hardware, and has no concept of security.

Absolutely correct, Gwenio1. No security software even looks at (nevermind protects) your card/drivers.

I wonder why everybody's talkin' about Pale Moon?  But I sure as heck love it.  Using v3.6.15 and looks Perfect with my own Glassphire 2 interface.  Same goes for other 'Blinds.  Maxthon's been giving me problems, since my BSOD days a few weeks ago, (like reverting back to the old v2.0.5 and eliminating my plug-ins & customizations) so I said "Screw it" and moved on to Pale Moon.

I hear you.  I'd rather keep all my files to myself on my local disk.  I won't allow Big Brother & Big Corporate Scum (like Apple or Google) to lay a hand on my precious files, especially graphics & projects i've made myself. (I'll only share with WinCustomize. ) So I say, "Screw the Cloud".  I'm glad that i'm not alone in this field.  Local Storage all the way! 

On another topic, app-stores are SO limited and dumbed-down.  Only hundreds of thousands of apps?  Why not find hundreds of MILLIONS of free third-party apps for your desktop or laptop and KEEP them all to yourself indefinitely?  (examples: Download.com, Softpedia.com)  Screw those tiny pitiful app stores.  And a lot of those so-called "apps" aren't free.   I'm just saying. 

So my conclusion is:  Pale Moon Kicks ASS!

Hi doc uval,  everytime i hit the url you both sent for http: ... palemoon.org/   i get sent to this ...

if I type the url (cut paste) it still sends me to this freeze page.  It this another redirect malware?   Or is MS (im using IE right now because Firefox kept crashing on me)  why won't it let me go to the palemoon site, even when url is typed in the window line at the very top?

I went to the other palemoon site,,,  and got in.  It says it won't work with AMD Althlo .. which is what i have.. so i can't use the palemoon version of firefox anyway....  Thanks so much .. it was a good idea to try.

Hi Doc, the plae moon has a version for the althlon chip.. found it on the site in one of the pull down menus.   using it now... is faster than IE.. and the old firefox and opera.  Still don't understand the "freeze" thingy... but I'm happy to get pale moon.

I find it faster than Firefox. You have to be careful with programs because they don't support Palemoon.

Hey!  Before Doc started crowing about Palemoon, I though it was just a lager too!  But I downloaded it (back around 3.6.13) and have used it as my primary through the 4 version so far.  And I do love it best.

Palemoon is described as a version of Firefox 'optimized' for Windows OS's, meaning some stuff has been stripped out, I would assume, and other stuff 'tuned' for Windows.

Even though PM4 is recommended for Win7 & PM3 for XP, I've been running PM4 on 2 XP rigs for quite awhile now (currently 4.0.7) without any issues and I prefer the PM4 UI.  I had used FF for a long time, but FF4 and FF3 (starting with FF3.6) were both causing me headaches with crashes on opening multiple tabs on one of the machines which is what led me to try PM.  Why PM has no trouble here & FF does is a mystery, but clearly some of the stuff 'stripped out' of FF to make PM may have been contributing.

PM works with almost all the FF add-ons.  A number of sites I need to use regularly (mainly Outlook Webmail & some banking sites) don't render properly (or work at all) on FF or PM, but using the IE Tab Plus add-on fixes that very nicely.

I've tried Opera, Chrome, Safari, IE8 and FF3/4, and PM4 is where I settled.  Works great & is very stable, even with 10 or more tabs open.

I might have moved to Chrome by now except I don't like how it puts all the add-on icons at the top. I just don't know how to get them off of there and only keep the ones I want. I like firefox because of the all-in-one sidebar add-on I have where I have easy access to the add-ons and more when ever I need to. If Chrome had something like this and I could remove the icons at the top at my leisure I would probably move to Chrome although it might be difficult as I am so use to Firefox, I can't even stand having IE open for too long when it's necessary to open.

Quite correct, I didn't like the skin color changes.

I'm using Firefox 3.5.15 and it works just great as well as all the extension/addons...anything after that just seemed to slow down so I switched back. If it ain't broke...

I tried FF5 again and it's okay, so long as I disable Windowblinds for it.  So it's using the old retro-style plain titlebar.
