The mainstream media is now owned by corporate concerns (in the USA). Try BBC, try searching on Internet for newspapers in Bonn, Paris, London, Riyadh, Baharian, Bejing (whatever...)

The feds, and most states are cutting payrolls, throwing people out of work, and demanding 20% pay cuts to unionized workers. The states are cutting taxes, expanding breaks and corporate welfare to many corporations, they crying, we have a financial crisis - we need to cut services to the poor. A week ago, my state of NY did just this, while the same budget added another tax cut for the top 1% wealthiest new yorkers. The trickle down, or supply side economic policies of the neo-classical economists (Free market Adam Smith / Ricardo crowd) did not work under Reagan, and has not worked since then.
Oregon did something very different. And the mainstream media has virtually ignored it. Oregon raised the taxes on the the wealthiest ones in the state. Funny the media hasn't mentioned that.....
