I think that the major population centers would have been obliterated, and all major allied presence gone. Yet most of the population is still intact as there has to be something there for such a fast recolonization...

Well technicly, after bombing the planet a new population is sent down from orbit via Colony Ship or Capital Ship, causing a massive spike in population. However what happened to the survivers of the bombing would depend on the race you are playing as:

Vasari: The surviving populace would be forcably enslaved by the Vasari Slave Lords

Advent: The survivers would be forcably converted to the ways of the Unity

TEC: Not fully known but it might be possible that they would be sent to a POW camp

Which means they would be forced to pro-create with the Advent women to ensure more Psionically gifted children... Sounds horrible .

But why would the TEC send the survivors to POW camps when they could re-naturalizing them as citizens so they could pay taxes?

to kill them why else so the planet would have no one left on but humans and unless the were human i don't think we would treat them very nice.... we dont treat each other nicely so why would we treat aliens the same way? i just dont think we would.....

Could someone please tell me why the survivors of the nuclear holocaust in the story I mentioned reverted back to the Stone Age after Earth's major cities were decimated?

People are task specific now and have no clue how to build a cell phone or a computer or even make metal. Once the flow of goods stops, look around and see what you could make again once it is destroyed. Once the power goes off and the flow of water stops, you can count with your fingers the days it will take for humans to revert to animals.

It has been said that a CME will hit the Earth in 2012 shutting off (whatever side of the world it hits) the power grid killing 2/3 of the human population. When that happens, there will be no World War around that time period. Every country would be forced to work together to save the part of the world that was effected by the CME. Now I'v notice this has gone off topic so to finish this, this is what the chain of events would be:

1: CME hits the Earth's Magnetic Bubble

2: The Radiation left from the CME will cause massive power surges, destroying the power stations

3: Due to the lack of power, no running water, no gas stations, generators will die out

4: Due to no water or lack of gas, people will die from illnesses, dehydration, famine

5: That part of the world would be in a dark age until new power stations are up and running, in which would take years since the major citys need to come first (e.g New York, Boston, Las Vegas)

On Babylon 5, 500 years after the events in the show, after the "great burn" they reverted to the stone age because the survivors no longer trusted technology. After all, it was technology that bombed them.

So it won't be a "all countries work together to save the affected areas", so much as "all countries start killing each other as they compete for resources in the now defenseless/uninhabited affected areas".

Theres only war because human emotions get in the way. We are a flawed creation, we arent perfect, we never will be unless people take a good damn look at what they are doing to their own species and finaly notice that what we are doing to each other is wrong and uncalled for.

I agree'd with you up until the point you stated that "we will never be perfect unless people take a good look at what they are doing" [paraphrased].

It should really be 'we will never be perfect'. War isn't because human emotions get in the way; reasons to engage in warfare range from genocidal and insane to intensely logical; i.e. it is logical to go to war with this neighboring nation because they control resources that we have need of.

Generally speaking, there's far fewer people who care about humanity as a "species" than those who care more about their local communities or their immediate family or even themselves.

So if I were you, I'd give up on the hope of humanity realizing its errors and arriving at perfection. Ain't gonna happen.

I found the story I was talking about:it's called By the Waters of Babylon by Stephen Vincent Benét.

Here's the summary:Set in a future following the destruction of industrial civilization, the story is narrated by a young man who is the son of a priest. The priests of John’s people are inquisitive "scientists" associated with the divine. They are the only ones who can handle metal collected from the homes (called the "Dead Places") of long-dead people whom they believe to be Gods. The plot follows John’s self-assigned mission to get to the Place of the Gods. His father allows him to go on a spiritual journey, but does not know he is going to this forbidden place.

John takes a journey through the forest for eight days, and crosses the river Ou-dis-sun. Once John gets to the Place of the Gods, he feels the energy and magic there. He sees a statue of a "god" — in point of fact, a human — that says "ASHING" on its base. He also sees a building marked "UBTREAS". After being chased by dogs and sleeping in someone's apartment, John sees a dead god. Upon viewing the visage, he has an epiphany that the gods were simply humans whose power overwhelmed good judgment. After John returns to his tribe, he speaks of the places "New York" and "Biltmore". His father tells him not to, for sometimes too much truth is a bad thing, that it must be told little by little. The story ends with John stating his conviction that, once he becomes the head priest, "We must build again."

Would the natives of planet that was just nuked/kinetic-bolted/beamed to the Stone Age abandon their Modern beliefs? I'm just wondering.

Depends on who survived. In north america we have a very diverse culture. Lets say that only 1 area of the US was left unaffected by the bombing and the population there was very religious. That population would eventually spread throughout the US transforming the society.

If there were pockets of survivors they would probably end up going to war against one another for what little resources are left leaving the beliefs of the strong to expand.

Speaking of bombing a planet to the Stone Age, have you ever seen the defeat screens for the TEC or the Advent, that's what the planetary surface would probably look like.
