well the truth is that a lot of companies have overly raised prices on their products , there are a lot of artists (which are not spears and the likes) who doesnt claim 22 dollars for a cd (low end price in my homecountry the country i live in its about 28).

they might take 5-10 dollars for the cd and still without being huge they make a living .

the truth is that most money for the artists themselves comes from gigs , and the companies make the most from the cds.

a dvd that comes out costs about 28 dollars here , in 3 months time they have lowered the price to 12 or buy 4 for 45 , they still make a lot of money on these dvds but they raise the price during the hype.

Anyways on that is not the issue at hand , but it sure makes people want to download and before they realize that it will not go down .

And no its not ok to take anything , but i will not condone people who have it hard when they do it and it doesnt hurt any1 , i would never allow any1 of my friends to try to make money by ripping someone off or taking something which cant be replaced.

On the second question ... hmm well if a demo isnt supplied or a cd isnt available to listen to i would actually think it would be ok to try it out , if you dont keep it afterwards i guess . As i said in an earlier statement , i download underground music , its not available on radio,spotify,or any other rent/buy a song on the internet , i download cds , then i buy bulk maybe 20 cds every 2 months , they cost approx 4-10 uk pounds a cd .

and many other smaller groups/underground music flourish due to torrents and so forth so its a very small chance that a group which do not make that much money would take damage of pirating.

and well the econimic downfall was caused by greedy corporations/stockholders/ceos

as for this , i refer to my first answer , As long as it doesnt hurt anyone why should someone need to live a poorer cultural life due to "sickness/economic instabilities in the country", its never "OK" to go against copy infringment but that doesnt mean i condone people who do.

And i have never stated anything about the gaming industri about this , as i dont want to hold a discussion about that on a gaming forum , this is for books/music/movies .

it was me aswell stating about "the people" not "the family" that had 100 bucks left , and i was wrong its about 120 dollars when i recalculated it .

if you have part time job minimum wage or have wellfare due to sickness you dont have that much money left , and as several of my friends have come into economic crisis due to this happening to them they have payments to pay off every month resulting in the amount of money they have left.

internet is given money to with the wellfare and the people with parttime jobs find a lot of their entertainment on the net , playing wow or dling movies/music , surfing around on communities and posting their blogs or whatever they do , its a cheap way of having a lot of fun.

cause when people wouldnt have bought the item anyways they are not losing any money, so in that case it isnt hurting any1 i cant understand how people cant understand this .

if a sale would never have been made , it doesnt cost them anything to have it downloaded ? and in some cases they buy it because they really like it . Then the company would actually gain money ,they just dont want to buy it without knowing what it is .

and its not stolen its a copy infringement violation to be precise and nitpicky its the big movie companies that have decided to call it theft not the law. 

i myself is a lover of all kinds of music/movies/games yes im a big nerd , and as i said in earlier posts i dont think its "OK" but i dont condone people who does it . also seems like a hard thing for people to understand .

i dont disagree on the lot of things you say , i just want people to understand the issue at hand , some people download stuff actually 70% of the internet users do it , dvd sales has still gone up since this phenomenon and cd sales has gone down.

The only real profiteer of a cd sale is the big company behind it , the artists themselves gain more from gigs/being played on the radio .

And the reason for dropping cd sales i think everyone understands is that people want digital music to have on their computer/mp3 players and as such a new market has been done for this which is gaining more and more ground.

Of course there's no Netflix in Sweden - because judging from your attitude and what I hear about Swedish socialism, your country obviously does not value free enterprise. I've met the Stardock developers at last year's Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle. They're a great group of guys and I do take it a bit personally when people steal from them. This attitude that the lazy and unemployed can steal from those who do work and try to put forth new innovations is one of the reasons America is sinking fast.
