Star Gates: A challenge to All modders

Making Phase gates work between stars.

Fellow modders,

 

I have created some custom maps that are designed around star systems rather than planets. The issue is that phase gates do not work between stars so now they are quite useless. I was wondering if anyone out there could devise a way to mod a phase gate that is a star gate. This would mean that jumping between planets in different star systems is instantaneous much like a wormhole.

 

If that's not possible, what about making phase gates work between planets in different star systems?

 

Can anyone here think of a way to achieve this?

why use the  

TeleportTowardsTarget

 

Set the constraint to "Stars," so it can only teleport to stars.

 

Seems like it would be pretty simple

Well, I'm not wanting stars per se, I'm mor interested in planet to planet as it is now with phase gates, but between planets in different star systems.

 

What is this "TeleportTowardsTarget " you speak of. Sounds interesting. Could you make it work between owned colonizables only?

Could this be added to a starbase?

It is used in a vassari support Cruiser. It teleports the ship directly to its target.

Thier is a second version, "TeleportTowardsMoveTarget" I don't know exactly what is differnt about them though

 

You could make it work to teleport towards anything ...I think. I've never messed around with it.

Problem with making all colonized planets viable targets, is that it becomes overpowered.

I don't know how to target individual types of planetmodules, or ships, becouse if you could, that would work.

 

 

Maby I'll mess around with it.

Sounds interesting.

 

I'd prefer it to be friendly targets only though.

Doesn't work.

 

Teleport only works in a gravity well, it doesn't want to work outside of a gravity well.

 

You could try manipulating the Wormhole ability.

you make it so that there is only one star system then mod new fake systems. what I mean is that have it so that the phase lanes only connect to X number plaints plus a fake star (like the rogue stars in solar sins only with out the ability to be colonized) to create a artificial system. and then use the gates like normal.
