Travel without a phase line ???

I've been noticing this a bit, until just now when things really looked weird.

I've seen in the past, pirates seeming to be flying long distances without a phase line.

And in my current game, I've noticed one of the enemies seemingly amass a huge fleet with ships coming in from several directions with no apparent phase lines.

Not long ago, I saw a few ships seeming to be coming down from another solar system, in a ONE system game !

But just now, I actually had a fleet jump out of the system we'd just had a huge battle in, and they did not go out any of the 3 phase lines, but somewhere between 2 of them. wtf ? The ships, instead of being visible as they went out the line, just vanished.

Is this a bug, or is there an Artifact that bestows the ability to jump between any 2 planets you like ?

Pirate raids simply "appear" at their base, and the TEC's Insurgency tech makes small numbers of ships appear at a random enemy's world as if they had jumped from another system.

Also, the Vasari get the Phase Stabilizer tactical structure which allows travel between any worlds that have them. And they have a capship than also allows this with an ability.

Ah. Thanks for that. I hadnt looked at Vasari tech properly. So hadnt noticed it, or at least, hadnt gotten the meaning of it yet.

And I've been playing with pirates off, so havent really gotten into them yet.

Not long ago, I saw a few ships seeming to be coming down from another solar system, in a ONE system game !



Ships that spawn in, not created, like from the vasari Dark Armada, the ships origionally spawn outside the system and and basically auto-dragged to the correct plannet. Its not a real jump.

I noticed something kind of like this once, but at sublight speeds. I'm not sure if it was a glitch or if I did something by accident (its possible, I was using a laptop touch mouse). I had moved a fleet to a planet, and then left it there for a little while and focused my attention on another one of my fleets in another system. Later, I zoomed back to the planet with the first fleet, and couldn't find it. The fleet was no where in the grav well. So I zoom out some and do some searching and find my fleet had moved in the Z axis probably about half the distance to another planet. This gave me an idea. You could theoretically hide a fleet way outside of a grav well of a planet. I'm not sure what tactical purpose it would serve, but its possible.

Actually, I don't think there even is a limit to how far out of a gravity well a ship can be pushed. I was playing on doppelgangers, as Advent, and when I was using repulsion on a TEC fleet, after I killed off the fleet I saw all my fighters and bombers flying off. Turns out one of their carriers had been knocked (and I don't think it was the repel, it was waaay to far for that) out of the system. It was actually closer to one of the other planets then the star. It took my fighters over a minute to get to it, and then return.

So, while I don't know how you can do it, or if it was just a bug, it is quite possible. Although I hear they removed the Z-axis control at some earlier patch, so that plan is not possible in any case.

I've had one of my fighter squads fly at nothing at all, but when I noticed it, it had traveled nearly across the system. Half an hour after I turned them around, they were still closer to the other side of the system.

There is a limit to how far a ship can be from a gravity well press ALT and the outer line is the range limit.

Also when phase jumping your position is inverted.

What this means is if you jump while in the outer range of a planet, youll arrive in the same outer range.

This is useful for a quick retreat because you are not in the gravity well.


How to do this:

On the planet you are jumping FROM, with your ships selected right click outside the gravity well in the direction you want to go to. Now JUMP TO the planet you want. When you arrive you should have NOT entered the gravity well but you are still at the planets outer range.

If you need to retreat you ships simply do a 180, and leave. No manuevering or anything.

One of the technologies that I've noticed is 'Long range Phase Jumping', which says that once you research it, you can jump to another starsystem. I've researched it, but I don't see any way of jumping out-system.

I saw several fighters end up being pursued by npc gardas at about midway between two worlds. Was funny to see them out that far. Docked the fighters and watched the gardas take 4 minutes to return to the proper gravity well.

Long Range Phase Jump... if there are two "STARS", then you can jump to that other "STAR". If there is only 1 star, it's not worth researching it. Same for wormhole research, if no wormholes, waste of resources.

Sometimes wen i attack pirates bases but dont destroy them and leave i see pirates jumping from other solar systems as renforcements.
Also the ships seen to apear out of thin air.(or should i say thin space  )

For system to system jumps, just move your ships to the star as you would normally move ships... They will travel to the star that is in the current system, and jump to the star you choose.

A few times I was attacking some foes, launched a few barrages of milliles and I watched the millisles follow them planet... to planet... to planet! lol
