I am curious to know what people think about the heavy price you pay for having planets far from your capital in loyalty with the resulting loss of significant revenue. It seems to me that the penalty is way too high in the large and huge maps. Having only a 35% loyalty makes it hard gather enough resources to research, improve planets and the like. It would also seem to me that if you had a series of broadcast centers that linked the planets, that should help negate the penalty.
I like the game a great deal, but this part seems really unbalanced and unfairly penalizes you for working on conquering the galaxy on the large maps. It would be great to see the loyalty and tax base not hit so hard.
Also, what happened to the option to play with high resources? When I am playing against the computer, I liked having the high resource option availabel to try and overcome the tax and loyalty penalty
