Unfortunately they haven't been able to get a European publisher for the game, and not for lack of trying.
There are no compatibility issues at all if you import a copy, and you don't have to get a box if you don't want to - ordering from Stardock directly can get you a download-only version (unlimited downloads, can back it up) or a download + box, so you can still download and play while your box is being shipped overseas.
The bonus is you also get the CE this way, even with download-only you get digital versions of some of the goodies. The price from Stardock is also in USD, so you get it cheap
