CRAZY Release Dates!!

Ok, so the release for US was at the start of Feb.

The release for Australia?

April 27th.

WTF?!?!?!

That's almost 3 months later!

I preordered the game a month ago, expecting it to have arrived already... then I get an email saying that it's been delayed.

How can a game that's already been released get delayed!?

And why is the Australian market getting screwed over with this game?

Every other game comes out within a week of the US release.

Sins looks like a great game, but what's with the absolutely insane releaste dates?

Its call being an Indie company... you have obstacles that bigger companies don't have... like getting a distribution company to carry you for a reasonable price.
Also being that these guys do not keep us waiting longer then needed the release dates are often based on “this is when we can get it done” where as other companies would give an arbitrary “even time of the month” release date and then just put it out regardless of whiter it is ready or not…

I vote for the star dock way!

Stardock gives you a digital download, you should have ordered it from them, gotten it on day one via the almighty broadband, and hung your Australian release date you're lucky to even have at all.

I'm surprised a place as small as Australia is getting it that soon really, 20 million people is peanuts compared to a European release, which isn't a much bigger geographical spot. A major company with their own outfit there doesn't have such problems, but lining up a dozen different production centers for localized creation and distribution world wide is serious work for an unproven product. They can probably snap their fingers and get a taker now, but I'd bet they had to kiss some serious ass if they had that lined up before release.

I'll never understand pre-ordering. I can't think of any good reason to do it. Wait til the game comes out. Buy it wherever it's cheap and available. How hard is that?

Because in some cases, preordering is cheaper than waiting for it to actually be released. Main reason why I order all my games (PC and Console) from amazon.com because most of the time they are $10 less

SinS is the only game that I actually preordered from Stardock.

And what about Europe where no distributing contract has been successfully made ? Currentlty, if you are in Europe and want to have SoaSE, the only way thats isn't too costly is to buy directly from Stardock the download version. That way, you won't have Handling and Ship fees for senting a box from USA to Europe and you won't experience custom taxes (just look at this post https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=402&aid=301949 )

Everyone I know that owns Sins has been playing it since launch through downloads. You know that with the poor USD, it's about A$50 to buy it online AND pay the $5 more to get a box sent out if you feel the need for a printed manual? People who want to pay retail (for reference, retail for a regular game is A$100 here, although Sins will doubtless be cheaper by $20) for the priviledge to wait for months are quite amusing.

I got a copy delivered from New Zealand supplier and it was their second order so It arrived in NZ late February.

Hey listen; EBAus has this for release 16th April. I checked coz I'm waiting for it here. The thing is, given that IC and SD are Indie, we're lucky enough as it is to have Auran publishing it for us in retail.
The Euros on here, however, have every right to complain - but not to IC or SD, but rather to the moron companies in Europe without the brains or the guts to support this game. Top reviews all over the web? Phenomenal sales? Nah, that's not good enough for them.

I asked my local gamestore in Holland: not even a planned release date. I found out there were no distributors signed on by looking here on the site.

So I bought the download version directly from Stardock and while I would've liked a box version (without the expensive or slow S&H), I'm happy that this way Stardock gets to keep more of the cash, instead of the dumb distributors.
