I am new to this type of game. I have thoroughly read the manual and have tried a couple of single player games but I'm really not getting the hang of it. In fact, it seems kind of boring so far.

I haven't read anything about what I should be building first or whether to build defensive platforms before exploring. Should I build a fleet first? Hope you understand from my questions. I am just totally new to this. Is anyone aware of a guide to this game or some help with strategy? Many Thanks.
