February 22nd, 2008Walking into the studio owned by Ironclad Games was a strangely euphoric experience. Standing in front of me were four proud, smiling game developers in a space that would look right at home in a Douglas Coupland novel. I could tell that the team was riding on an emotional high; around the room I could see a full spread from their PC Gamer preview along with half a dozen magazines extolling the virtues of Sins of a Solar Empire, their debut title. Their enthusiasm was contagious; I had spent a week previous waiting for a hard copy of Sins to show up at my local Future Shop and had spent the week after that playing scenario after scenario. To say that I was enamored of the game would be a crass understatement. I was giddy to meet the minds behind this fresh, fun title...

On February 19th, Jeff Sobol and I had the opportunity to visit the studios of Ironclad Games, developers of Sins of a Solar Empire. We met there with four co-founders of the team and had the chance to sit down with them for almost two hours, discussing everything from their influences to the lore of their debut smash hit. The above article is the first part of a two piece segment and we'll have some video up early next week.
