Gamespot gives Sins 9.0 + Editor's Choice award!

Figured it was time for me to beat someone to the punch.

But you heard it, Gamespot rated it at 9.0, with the only "Bad" things that games can take a long time, and we won't get much sleep

The "real" Bad
- Its not a franchise that adds millions of hits to the site
- Its not on a console
- Its not made by EA or Ubisoft
- Stardock isnt loading our pockets with advertising $$$

Yeah gamespot never mentions great support, no copy protection and all that stuff we love about stardock I guess it would hurt other shit $$ companies like EA ... after they fired that guy for a bad review of a shitty but heavily advertised game i stopped caring about their reviews.

Well, to play Devil's Advocate, when I read a game review I prefer that the game itself gets reviewed, not its publisher

The real truth:
-Most of the revenue comes from subscribed users and ads, which allows Gamespot to keep reviewing smaller games.
-The game is number 5 in views out of all systems
-Most games are free from the developer.
-Grand Theft Auto 4 and Call of Duty 4 aren't published by EA or Ubisoft.
-Ea and Ubisoft games have a history of getting poor/average reviews.

I guess it would hurt other shit $$ companies like EA ... after they fired that guy for a bad review of a shitty but heavily advertised game i stopped caring about their reviews.

EA paid gamespot to say "Oh hey, this game is great! Buy buy buy!" but the guy reviewing it didn't get the memo. He wrote an honest review of it, saying it sucked. EA got pissed at gamespot and told them to fire him.

Good, ongoing support and patches IS an important part of the game.

Lack of annoying, invasive copy protection doesn't have anything to do with the publisher, either.

It all has to do with how happy you're going to be when you buy the game and try to play it.

He is referring to the firing of Editorial Director Jeff Gerstmann. It seemed that he was fired for giving a poor review to Kane & Lynch. Gamespot's actions after his dismissal were not very re-assuring, although some of the criticisms against them turned out to be false (i.e. advertising is set up weeks in advance, was scheduled to end when it did). People are always quick to jump on the "Omg evil corporation!" bandwagon, whether it's actually merited or not. 'Tis the way of things. A lot of people just don't care to look at it objectively.

People have been hating on GS for years, hell, even before that dude was fired, there were numerous complaints of bribes, review altering, and general developer manipulation prior to that Kane & Lynch review. And it won't stop so long as reviewers keep handing out negative scores to folks favorite games. They say they don't read GS, but they're concerned that it's taking bribes.

This is true. Gamespot is one of the most used sites that it is important for Sins to get a good mark on it. Heck I use it because it dedicates forums to each game ,and its a pretty good resource for screenshots and videos.

the two other place it needs high marks on is PC Gamer
