I was just in the shower thinking about this game, and had a suggestion..
Well, being as culture doesn't take over planets and only makes them neutral, which means if you have any colonizing ships in the grav well and the enemy is spreading his culture, its nothing more than an annoyance... so.. why not make it so that any structures belonging to the planet that is being hit by the culture have a chance of being taken over??
I've only played singleplayer so I don't know how this would affect multiplayer, but surely would make culture a bit more strategic? Imagine spreading your culture to an enemy planet and having it make the workers in a frigate factory revolt!! (I figured some guys stationed away from the home planet are more likely to revolt than people actually on the planet..) Pump out a few frigates and attack the enemy from inside his own empire! Would make things pretty interesting, but haven't really thought about the balancing issues n such..
Just thought I'd throw this idea out, and sorry if has been discussed before!!
