I am a single player fan, and not the conqurer type, but more trade and peaceful coexsistant (to a certain point). Anyway diplomacy model eludes me abit, and maybe someone cares help me understand.
Okay so if I want a buddy I got to do his "missions". Give this, kill that, I get it. However many npcs have different missions for me, and they send some forces to attack me continiously and I might accidently do some of them while defending my own colonies (like kill x number of ships from npc y). Ok now to the questions.
So i do a misson to gain favor with a ai but right after he attacks me and i wipe him out. Do I loose the favor by destroying his invasion force? If so isn't that just abit stupid?
Ok I got a ally, does my trade agreement give any improved relations over time? It doesn't seem so.
Okay if i break alot of treaties like peace and cease fire does that make me less trustworthy to others? Doesn't seem like any1 cares if I sign a treaty and break it 1 second after.
Can I see if any of the AIs are buddies or don't they form relations? They should, shouldn't they?
Seems to me that they AI doesn't really make an effort to form relations other then missions. Say if I am at the brink of wiping them out, shouldn't they offer a cease fire even if they hate my guts just to try to protect themselves? Or if we got a common foe why not ally against him?
Giving resources without there being a mission doesn't seem to give me any favors or improve relations, why is the option to do so there?
I read the lore, but I find it strange that you start out with a hate relationship when you meet the computer and that improving relations is much harder then loosing it. Am I missing something?
Thanks for the enlightenment
