This is pretty depressing, all the stores i called were not getting any shipments for at most a week. BOOOOOOOOO CANADA!!!!!!!

It's sort of like when a game is released in the US, and Canada gets it several days later, right...?

Yeah sort of like that but a lot more B.S. because it's just distribution.

I mean the game was made in canada but we have to pay crazy shipping from the states if ordering online or we have to wait longer for it to come out in stores.

One store I talked to today said "Tuesday or Wednesday" another seemed very confused and told me it wasn't being released until Friday.

Yup. They had stores saying the release was Feb 4th. They were accepting pre-orders and taking your money. Now, when it comes time to deliver, no game on release day. Normally, at least where I am in Canada which is a city that gets all the American stuff the same day (because I'm just five minutes south of Detroit), so why we aren't getting this the same day as everything else, is beyond me. This isn't Australia or Europe.

Ordering directly from stardock is unfortunately way too expensive given:

1) I want a real manual, not a .pdf so digital alone is no good, not to mention paying $5 more for a download than getting the box makes no sense

2) 39.95 in the store vs. $49.95 U.S. plus $20 shipping is ridiculous...a surcharge of $30 on a $40 game is simply not reasonable. The collectors extras are nice and all but I can live without a mysterious soundtrack which I am sure isn't worth $30.

Like I've said before too, all things being equal I would much rather pay ironclad/stardock directly instead of paying a retailer. Not at that expense though.

Don't complain, us Aussies/New Zealanders have to wait longer than you guys to get it to RETAIL, in Europe, they won't have it at all.

I'd rather pay the extra, to be able to download and then wait for the cd/etc.

if you think canada is bad i live in cape town a fishing village at the tip of africa in terms of game distrobution
I share your pain and frustration but hey at least you getting the game in stores
we here only have the option to order online  ( 
oh well just the way it is at least we got internet to be able to downlode it

I understand other countries are worse but the game was made in Canada.........you'd think that would make things better for us........

While the developer (Ironclad) is Canadian and the distributor (Stardock) is US, it's a pretty safe bet that the actual manufacturing and packaging is taking place somewhere in Asia. When a Microsoft product is released to manufacturing it takes at least a month for packaged versions to show up on store shelves. It's only been a week since Sins went Gold - it simply isn't possible to manufacture, package and distribute the product to retailers in that amount of time.

I personally think Stardock should have offered a striped down version - DVD and manual in one of those little cardboard envelopes - that could have been shipped Air Mail anywhere in the world for a dollar or two. A 3lb collectors edition is nice - but not when it costs $20.00 to ship.

1- I used to buy my games with a box, but with This game and the Galactic Civilization 2 expension, I went download only. You say it's 5$ more than retail? Have you factored in Taxes? it comes down to the same EXACT price with taxes and if you download from Stardock, you get the Collector Edition included (as download). Myself, I just printed the manual at work and that should be good enough for me. I pile my boxes anyway so, I save threes while I'm at it.

2- That's the other reason I went for the download only. The shipping cost were just too high. With the Canadian money being almost on par with the US dollar. Also, what I did, was actually purchase TGN Tokens, I think it was 10 tokens for 69$ and I bought SINS for 5 tokens (roughly 35$). So for 35$ (5$ cheaper than store, 10$cheaper than download, no taxes) I got the Collector's edition in download.

Then I used some tokens to get the GalCiv2 Expension but you could save some tokens for other games or probable future Sins Expension (which seems likely).
