I did a search and found one thread with comments that the game won't have a campaign in the traditional sense.

I seriously hope this is just speculation and hasn't been confirmed?   

I would hate for this game to ship with just skirmish maps and it's multiplayer as the only selling point.

Galciv 2 is an example of how not to do a campaign...if they slap a few objectives on skirmish maps and call that the singleplayer game I'm going to be really dissapointed.

I know most people only care about multiplayer in RTS games, but I've never enjoyed the experience. I prefer to play a good scripted singleplayer campaign, with a story and movie clips, then move on to play against the AI with my friends.
